  Vim version 7.2a ready for beta testing

[2008-06-26] Yes, we are working towards the 7.2 release. Mostly bug fixes and updated runtime files. Main new feature: support for floating point numbers. More information can be found in the announcement. This is a beta test version. It's quite stable, but we want to make sure it's perfect. Let me know when you find a problem! (Bram Moolenaar)

  New clinic in Kibaale

[2008-06-18] The Kibaale Childrens Centre is building a new clinic. The construction is almost ready, now it has to be filled with furniture and medical equipment. We need your help for that! You can read about this on the new Kibaale clinic page. This is Vim's charity project. If you enjoy using Vim, please consider helping the clinic. (Bram Moolenaar)

  new Vim book

[2007-08-01] Kim Schulz has written a book about using Vim. The full title is: "Hacking Vim: A Cookbook to get the Most out of the Latest Vim Editor". I have written a bit of info about it on the Vim books page. (Bram Moolenaar)

  The Vim maillists have a new home

[2007-07-18] I have decided to move the maillists to Google Groups. It appears to work well enough to do this, and should be a good long-term solution. IMPORTANT: subscribers of the old lists are not automatically added! You need to subscribe to the new groups to get messages! More info about the maillists on the Vim maillist page. (Bram Moolenaar)

  Replacing the maillists

[2007-07-13] As you noticed the @vim.org mail and maillists are still not working. We were working on a replacement, but the person implementing it became unreachable. Several people suggested using Google groups. To try this out I have setup the list vim-experiment@googlegroups.com. You can reach it at vim-experiment@vim.org. Please use this list for discussions about moving the maillists to Google groups. If there are not too many negative remarks I will move all the Vim lists there. (Bram Moolenaar)

  @vim.org mail down

[2007-06-11] Unfortunately our mail server is not functional at the moment. All maillists are down and other @vim.org mail also doesn't go through. It's unclear how long it will take for this to be fixed. (Bram Moolenaar)

  Fresh release: Vim 7.1

[2007-05-12] After one year and five days of waiting: a brand new Vim release! This is a stable version. There are many bug fixes and updated runtime files. No amazing new features. Upgrading from a previous version is highly recommended: a few crashing bugs and a security issue were fixed. For the details see the announcement. Or jump directly to the download page. (Bram Moolenaar)

  Beta test release 7.1b

[2007-05-10] Since making 7.1a I received several updated runtime files and a few problems were fixed. Too many changes to jump to the 7.1 release. Thus here is another BETA version. There will be a couple of days to verify everything is perfect in order. Well, one mistake in the source files is already found and fixed (patch 7.1b.001). Read more about the release in the announcement. I (Bram Moolenaar)

  Beta test release 7.1a

[2007-05-05] It has been nearly a year since Vim 7.0 has been released. There have been many patches for the source code and updates to the runtime files. Vim 7.1 will include all this and not much more. A convenient way to get all the improvements. But first a BETA version: 7.1a. I expect it to be stable, but let's test it for a few days to make sure. Read more about it in the announcement. (Bram Moolenaar)

  Vim joins Google Summer of Code

[2007-03-17] Instead of doing a boring holiday job, students can work on Vim this summer. Ideas for what could be worked on can be found on the ideas page. But you can also come up with your own task. Keep in mind that the number of students that will be accepted is limited, thus write a good application. For more information about the Google Summer of Code program, you can visit the program page. Students should plan to submit their applications by March 24, 2007. (Bram Moolenaar)
